Synopsis: Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion . . . she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.

Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.

Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is . . . Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.

Nothing can ever prepare me for how much I appreciate and love stories from Christina Lauren. I should know by now that I will always enjoy their characters and the stories they tell. For The Unhoneymooners, that was definitely the case of instant love.

I am not always a fan of Hate to Love, but mixed with The Taming of the Shrew, I knew I was in for a treat. Olive and Ethan’s story is uniquely hilarious, but also sincere and heartfelt.

I identified with Olive so much. I know I may have said this before, but that is the genius of Christina and Lauren’s writing. With every character they write, I always find pieces of myself in them. And because of that, I relate to their stories so much. Olive has my heart. Her bravada as well as her vulnerabilities are my own, and everything she said she felt? I also felt. Ethan was someone that I found easy to like. Despite Olive’s view of him, he was fun to get to know. I liked his tenacity and loyalty, but above all? I love how he complimented Olive. We all look for that in our leading men, and he was a great example of that.

I inhaled this story. As soon as I started, I couldn’t put it down. It got to the point where I lost sleep, ignored people, and sacrificed anything just to be able to stay in this world. If that doesn’t say something about a story, I don’t know what does.

I highly suggest reading The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. Go to your preferred book purchasing source and pick up your copy today!
